Dr Julie Hannan DCPsych CPsychol HCPC Registered
Chartered Counselling Psychologist
Hi, I’m the Clinical Director of Morency Therapy and have been working as a private practitioner for a number of years. I’m a Counselling Psychologist, accredited psychotherapist, an experienced Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) and Executive Coach.
I work with adults on an individual or couple basis who are experiencing difficulties.
Having worked as a Director and Board member of a multi-national organisation I retrained as a psychologist working as a Director and Trustee at a voluntary counselling organisation in Birmingham and at several NHS hospitals in the West Midlands.
I have a very positive optimistic approach to working with clients believing that in the right environment anything is possible. I really enjoy my work and believe that helping people make desired changes in their lives can be an empowering experience for them.
How could I help you?
I don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy as each person is unique, therefore I work integratively which means I use different approaches within the counselling relationship dependent on your needs. I have trained in a variety of approaches including humanistic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and transactional analysis.
Therapy can be short or long term dependent on your personal circumstances, and we would discuss this at our first meeting. I deal with a wide range of issues including:
- Relationship difficulties
- Stress and anxiety
- Panic attacks
- Bereavement, loss and grief
- Workplace issues
- Sexual, physical or emotional abuse and the effects of childhood abuse
- Low self esteem
- Chronic feelings of emptiness and persistent feelings of unhappiness
I aim to be sensitive to the cultural and ethnic origins of individuals and to people’s religious beliefs and sexual orientation and I adhere to the British Psychological Society’s code of ethics.
