For many people a healthy and fulfilling sexual relationship is part of their everyday life. For others while they may be very happy with their partner in all other aspects of their relationship for some reason the sex just doesn’t work…….and they just can’t understand why, when they are so happy.
This is where sex therapy can help. It is a type of therapy that focuses on the sexual aspect of an individual or couple. It is a place where you can talk about your sexual concerns or fears and learn ways to improve your sex life. Sex therapy is not a hands on therapy. You will talk about the difficulties you are experiencing and your therapist will help you understand why things are going wrong so that you can work towards making things better.
Generally speaking you will see your therapist once a week and you will be given practical tasks to do either on your own or with your partner if you have one. You don’t have to be in a couple to see a sex therapist and if you do have a partner they don’t always have to attend although it is preferable.
