As a relationship counsellor Val can often be asked by individuals or couples to help with the following:

  • Difficulty in communication
  • Affairs
  • Controlling and dominant behaviour

  • Step-families
  • Work-based relationships
  • Financial trouble

Val’s psychosexual therapy (sex therapy) work provides individuals or couples with the space to understand what and why there are problems in this area of their lives. While some issues have a medical origin many have their roots in emotional or relationship difficulties and a sex therapist will be able to identify these and give you options on how to treat them.

Some of the problems people come to a sex therapist for are:

  • Premature or rapid ejaculation
  • Erection difficulties
  • Problems achieving orgasm
  • Loss or lack of desire
  • Painful sex
  • Difficulty having penetrative sex

Val is also experienced in addiction Counselling. An addiction is a strong, uncontrollable need to take drugs, drink alcohol, eat or carry out a particular activity such as gambling, sex or shopping. It can become such a need that it can cause problems at home or work.

Addiction counselling can help with:

  • Compulsive masturbation
  • Exhibitionism and voyeurism
  • Alcohol and substance abuse
  • Dangerous sexual practices
  • Multiple affairs
  • Over-eating
  • Gambling
  • Compulsive use of pornography
