Dr Julie Hannan – DCPsych CPsychol HCPC Registered
Chartered Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist
Hi, I have been working as a private practitioner for over a decade with adults on an individual basis who are experiencing difficulties. For the last 5 years I worked from a beautiful historic building in the centre of Alvechurch, a large village in the South of Birmingham and now, I work solely online and provide therapy sessions for clients via Zoom.
I have a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology and Integrative Psychotherapy and a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.
Having worked as a Director and Board member of a multi-national organisation I retrained as a psychologist working as a Director and Trustee at a voluntary counselling organisation in Birmingham and at several NHS hospitals in the West Midlands.
I have a very positive optimistic approach to working with clients believing that in the right environment anything is possible. I really enjoy my work and believe that helping people make desired changes in their lives can be an empowering experience for them.
How could I help you?
I don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach to therapy as each person is unique, therefore I work integratively which means I use different approaches within the counselling relationship dependent on your needs. I have trained in a variety of approaches including existential psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and transactional analysis.
Therapy can be short or long term dependent on your personal circumstances, and we would discuss this at our first meeting. I deal with a wide range of issues including:
- Relationship difficulties
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Panic
- Resilience in the Workplace
- Burnout
- Trauma, single even trauma, childhood trauma
- Low self esteem
- Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Postnatal depression
- Sleep difficulties
- Midlife transitions and crises
- Adult survivor of sexual abuse
I have a special interest in working with people in midlife. Further details can be found on my website www.drjuliehannan.com.
I aim to be sensitive to the cultural and ethnic origins of individuals and to people’s religious beliefs and sexual orientation and I adhere to the British Psychological Society’s code of ethics.
